Welcome to The Good Mill – an everyday philosopher’s cozy dwelling and refuge. On this blog I am going to collect my thoughts from everyday life, tell about my travels, meetings with “strangers”, life experiences and insights.
Why “The Good Mill”? It’s a play on words which partly alludes to a Greek proverb – Ο καλός ο μύλος όλα τ’ αλέθει (O kalos o milos ola t’ alethei), a good mill [milos] grinds everything, and partly alludes to my name.
The miller in this mill is a full-time thinker. By the end of the day, there are a lot of seeds of thought which need to be ground down to letters, lines and texts. The white powder around my nose is only baby powder. Nervertheless, it bears witness that a family guy with small children is high. High on the lightness and the serenity that ensues within, once the swirling pictures in ones head are linked together to thoughts and a coherent story. It just has to come out of me, otherwise the burden in the head gets to heavy to carry around.
There is a philosopher in every one of us and everybody carry their own seeds of wisdom worth sharing with others. These lines will maybe inspire? Evoke a feeling? A reaction? Provide an insight? Meanwhile, we just might discover that we are not so different after all. So, I am going to hang around in my mill and grind the seeds. All is grist that comes to my mill.
Happy reading!
