A killer (whale) in the pool

(Reading time: ca 1 min)

The other day I met an interesting person out on the street. I was too much of a chicken to start talking to him. Then I promised that I wouldn’t chicken out the next time I meet someone who wakes my curiosity.

Yesterday, I took my daughter to the swimming school and swam a bit in the meantime. Then I saw a guy jumping into the water with a huge black fin on his feet. While I was swimming I looked straight down into the water and there he was, lying 5m down on the bottom of the pool, just chillin’. From that perspective, and with that huge fin, he looked like a killer whale. Then he began to move. Impressively elegant and incredibly fast. When I crawled 25m on on the surface, he managed to get to the other side of the pool before me. Under water! I could not help but start talking to him. It turned out that the guy is versatile, speaks several languages, and loves travel, adventure and music. He has really cool videos on his YouTube channel from his travels and adventures. Go in and search for “Ad Astra Jean Dar”, you might be inspired.

One more thing happened yesterday. The alcohol serving restriction entered into force in Sweden. Alcohol may not be served after 10 pm. Jean and I agreed that there were more people than usual in the pool on a Friday night. This might not be an effect of the restriction, but there are some positive effects of this current situation, as people now have to slow down and rethink the ways they are doing stuff. We might become more interested in fellow human beings around us and start talking more WITH each other. Who knows which new meetings, experiences, insights, lessons and inspiration you can get.
