Down the Rabbit Hole

Witnessing the unfolding of Russian-Ukrainian conflict is particularly difficult for me. The constant stream of images forces me back to the break-up of Yugoslavia in the 1990’s. Some old scars inevitably get ripped up in the process. I must actively avoid news and social media contaminating my peace of mind. …

A walking rebus

I’m opening the door of the building and stepping out on the street. A man passes me by. We are going in the same direction. I look at him fascinated and get so curious. Who IS this man? So many things in the scene that don’t add up for me. It’s as if a gal introduces herself as Anna and you see that she is a Bonny. So, we have an older man with a head that could fit on a body of a lawyer, a doctor or a head of agency. Neat jacket, trousers and high ankle boots, all made of leather – could be a motorcycle soldier from the WWII who went through a time portal, an old rocker who got stuck in the 80’s, a biker or a guy from a gay leather scene who modelled for Tom of Finland in his prime. He pushes a wheelchair with some stuff put in a medium-sized cardboard box. Felt the urge to step up to him and just say: “Hi! Can you tell me a little about yourself?”, but didn’t. Next time I meet someone fascinating, I’ll take a journalistic approach, make or break. They say reality surpases fiction. I don’t know what’s this guy’s story but it’s nice when people flip off the Swedish normalization hysteria and don’t give a crap to strive to be recognized as normal. Whatever that is. 🤪 Seen in the Siberia neighbourhood in Stockholm’s inner city on, one Wednesday evening of November 2020.

Swedish old bastards

(Reading time: ca 10 min)   A few weeks ago I was sitting with my son and a friend on my little sailboat. We did not sail, we just spent some good time moored to the landing stage. We listened to some reggae, sipped some coffee we brought with us …

Fool magnet

Why did I have to end up being a fool magnet? And why are there so many fools? In the New Thought philosophy there is a Law of Attraction which is the belief that positive or negative thoughts bring positive or negative experiences into a person’s life. According to that …

When autumn moves in

A late autumn stroll. Or rather a stroll on that delicate line that separates autumn from winter. When you can smell fallen leaves in the mud and when the air smells of the coming snow. Winter is lurking around the corner, but the autumn is not giving up just yet. …
